A student of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra state, Miss Mary Joseph, has escaped being mobbed by other angry students for carrying a pot of soup of her neighbour from gas cooker.
An eye witness told Emerald News that another student of the college, Miss Azuka Ikemefuna who was a co-tenant with Miss Joseph at their off campus hostel at Nsugbe was cooking okro soup.
While the soup was boiling on top of her camp gas cooker, she went to toilet to ease herself, when she came out, her pot of soup was already divided into two.
Our source said that Miss Ikemefuna started shouting and announcing to her hostel mates that whoever that divided her pot of soup should return it but nobody obliged stealing the half of the soup.
Our reporter gathered that some of her hostel mates decided to accompany Miss Ikemefuna to search for her soup in other students rooms.
Our source said that immediately they entered Miss Joseph’s room, they started perceiving aroma of okro soup.
Miss Ikemefuna and her co-okro soup searchers started shouting and told Miss Joseph to bring out the soup she stole.
Our source said that Miss Joseph suddenly broke into tears and started begging them not to beat her, that it was hunger that made her to steal part of the soup.
Emerald News also gathered that Miss Joseph confessed that she was very hungry and could not overcome the temptation of stealing when she saw the tantalizing pot of soup boiling.
Our source said that the students because of tears streaming down from Miss Joseph’ s cheeks as she was also begging them while kneeling down, just had mercy on her.
It was gathered that they rather pitied her without laying hands on her.
