Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the March 18th election in Delta state, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi has expressed shock at the judgement of the Supreme Court which affirmed Sheriff Oborevwori, as winner of the gubernatorial election in the state.

Olorogun Gbagi expressed his position in a statement he personally signed on Friday 19, 2024, in reaction to the supreme court judgment on the appeal petition he filed.

Olorogun Gbagi said that Deltans and indeed majority of Nigerians were alarmed, disappointed and gravely concerned with the reasoning of the Supreme Court.

He believes that the judgement was against the express provisions of the constitution, the Eeectoral act and the guideline and regulation issued by INEC under which the election was conducted.

He said: “The Supreme Court of Nigeria being the last hope of the people, has decided the more than obvious embarrassing situation in Delta State in what the public of Nigeria and particularly Deltans have woken up to see this day”.

The SDP candidate said that the general darkness across the state upon the delivery of the judgment was an ominous sign of a situation which portended consequences because of the disappointment embedded in the judgment.

“I, as Kenneth O. Gbagi, have taken this first stage that has ended with the judgement of the Supreme Court today on behalf of Deltans and the good people of Nigeria.”

While congratulating Sheriff Oborevwori over the validation of his election victory by the Supreme Court, Olorogun Gbagi said: “I will do a deep consultation with my political folks and will come up with a far reaching decision more again in the interest of the great people of Delta state.

“I enjoin all my teeming supporters to take a deep breathe and get ready as we have just begun”, he added.
