Dr. Michael Nwoko, Senior Special Assistant on Health Monitoring to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta state and Chief of staff to Distinguished Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, has congratulated the state governor on his victory at the Supreme Court on Friday, January 19, 2024.
In a statement made available to Emerald News, Dr. Michael Nwoko who is popularly called “the Political Oshobe” among friends and admirers, said the victory of the governor was a well-deserved one arising from the maximum support given to him by the good people of Delta state.
According to him, the court, having examined the appeal brought before the Supreme Court by former Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, dismissed the appeal finding no merit in all the facts presented by the former deputy senate president.
Dr. Michael Nwoko, who was aide to the former governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa commended the ex-governor over all the roles he played in the emergence of the incumbent governor, starting from the primary election to the campaign and eventually the general elections.
He said the erstwhile governor played a fatherly role following his belief in the ability of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, a two-term speaker in the Delta State House of Assembly to continue with his good legacies. He said Okowa’s belief and trust in him had finally paid off with his eventual victory at the Supreme Court.
He traced the battle the governor fought with various individuals both in the party, outside the party and other individuals who had the erroneous belief that Oborevwori was not competent to govern a multi-ethnic state as diverse as Delta state.
But, from the swearing in of the governor through to the victory at the Supreme Court, he said Oborevwori had proven himself to be one of the best governors in Nigeria. He added that he had piloted the affairs of the state, taken care of every segment, and carried all groups of people along in his administration.
He said Governor Oborevwori’s victory at the Supreme Court is a testament of the trust the people of Delta have on him, a testament which resonated from the tribunal through to the Supreme Court which has ended the long months of legal battle.
He also commended the deputy governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, who has worked resiliently with the governor to provide good governance to all Deltans. He noted that Sir Onyeme has proved himself to be a worthy partner in the affairs of the state.
Now that the long legal battle is over, he said all hands must be on deck to deliver the good governance for all categories of Deltans. He called on the opposition parties and their members to join hands to key into the administration for the overall good of all Deltans.
He commended the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ovie Omo-Agege for congratulating the governor on the Supreme Court victory, describing his action as the best way to go, a development which he said would lead to peace and harmony in the state.
Dr. Nwoko stated that Distinguished Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko and his teeming supporters would join hands with the governor to build a prosperous state for all residents.
