The Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel aka Akpodoro has said that the latest arrest of the MT Habour Spirit with registration number: 8226272 by the Tantita Security Services Limited, a company owned and managed by Chief Government Ekpemukpolo a.k.a Tomopolo did not come by surprise owing to the operational sophistry of the security firm.
Mayor Akpodoro revealed this in a statement made available to journalists while commending the private security firm in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said the TSSNL was obviously prepared for the job long before the the Mele Kyari-led Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, awarded the security contract to the firm.
Akpodoro said the successes recorded by the Tompolo-owned security firm is a testament to the fact that he has the capacity to secure Nigerian waters much better than the conventional security.
Akpodoro called for stronger synergy between the conventional security and the private firm that is charged with security of the oil facilities in the Western axis of the Nigeria waters.
He noted that since taking the gauntlet of the war against oil theft, Tantita security has demonstrated loyalty and patriotism to the course its management believe in, for the betterment of the Nigerian state.
According to the vociferous Gbaregolor Ughelli south LGA born Mayor, “It is no more news that TSSNL has saved the nation from oil thieves in its resolve to ensure that no drop of petroleum product is stolen by criminal elements in the Niger Delta.
“These criminal elements thrive on economic sabotage while they smile to the banks at the detriment of the entire nation.”
The steady progress by the TSSNL in the security of oil facilities and products in the creek, the Mayor said, could be much more if the federal government supports the firm by way of increasing its contract sum and enlarging the operational areas of the security company.
He seeks collaboration by all critical stakeholders in the country’s oil industry with the Tomopolo’s firm to further tighten the noose around oil thieves, noting that until that is done, the reminants of the “wheelers and dealers of stolen petroleum products including their foreign collaborators” won’t cease to make attempt on the nation’s oil wealth.
Akpodoro said Governments of Niger Delta states should lend their weight behind the operations of the Tantita to not only encourage the firm but also render their support to what he described as the ongoing war against sophiscated oil thieves and their local accomplices particularly those in the corridors of power.
He called on the security agencies to rally round TSNNL for more progress to be made.
He noted: “Rather than envy a man on such magnitude and delicate national assignment, the nation’s security apparatus should close ranks with his firm to win the war against the enemies of the nation who are fighting hard daily to undermine the growth and development of our national good.”
The MT Habour Spirit that is reportedly anchored in Okporoza community, Akpodoro advised that such should be emptied, the content properly disposed off and the vessel be set on fire to serve as deterrent to others who may wish to wheel and deal dangerously in stolen petroleum products.
He called on NNPCL’s Kyari to consider removing all the vestiges of liabilities on the way of TSSNL by withdrawing the sub contracts of the pipeline security surveillance awarded a man he described as undeserving politician who knows next to nothing in the security of oil facilities without adding value to the war on oil rogues.
He said TSSNL has proven beyond doubts to be reliable, dependable and a firm that prides itself above petty stealing this he noted is due to the persons and characters the company decided to engage and its community based operational model coupled with its superlative intelligence team whose information never fails.
He said the federal government should as matter of urgency make upward review of the contract sum for the TSSNL to increase the number of his productive workforce in its sterling performance by taking the war to the doorstep of oil thieves.
