As reports of armed robbers terrorising operators of Point of Sale macgines also known as POS, the police in Delta have aerated one 23-year-old Prosper Godspower who attempted robbing a POS operator at Eagle Square, Okpanam road, Asaba, Delta state.
There have been cases of suspected thieves carting away money of POS operators in some states in Nigeria. In Abia state, a POS operator was killed by gunmen after collecting her money from her.
According to the Delta state commissioner of police, Ari Muhammed Ali, who paraded him along with others at the Delta state police headquarters on Wednesday, reports filtered to the Okpanam police station of attempt to rob the POS operator, the police quickly deployed men to the scene and got him arrested.
The police commissioner said Godspower’s arrested was made faster with the assistance of Okpanam youths. He was seen with a bag containing one brownie pistol with breech no 11977 and an iron chain.
In the same Okpanam area, the police commissioner said on February 23, 2021, a team of Delta Hawk intercepted two suspected stolen vehicles with covered plate number.
He said the vehicles are one red Toyota Corolla and a black Mercedes Formatic Jeep. He said six occupants were found in the car.
He added that six pieces of camouflage army uniform, one beret, one face cap among others were discovered in the vehicle. He said the suspects were arrested and their case is under investigation.
