President vows to continue targeting terrorists globally to protect religious freedom
President Donald Trump declared that U.S. missile strikes in Nigeria have halted the killing of Christian populations in the West African nation.
“We recently struck Nigeria and largely ended the slaughter of great Christian populations,” Trump said at a Washington event. “Thousands and thousands of people were being killed children, women, old people just being slaughtered, hacked to death.”
Trump claimed the operation has deterred further attacks, noting that U.S. forces eliminated multiple terrorist leaders. “We knocked out their leader, their second leader, and their third leader,” he said.
Comparing Operations
Drawing parallels to U.S. action against Iran, Trump framed both as necessary defensive measures. “We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. Can’t let it happen,” he stated.
‘We Hunt Them Down’
Trump vowed continued aggression against terrorists globally: “We know where they are. We hunt them down, and we take them out.”
He also warned of threats to religious freedom, saying: “They will close your churches in this country. They want to end religion.”
Recent Strikes
The operations follow multiple joint U.S.-Nigeria strikes:
· Dec 2025: Air strikes on ISIS in Sokoto state
· May: Over 20 ISIS/ISWAP fighters killed in Borno state
· June: 21 ISWAP fighters killed in joint operation with U.S. Africa Command
