A tanker laden with fuel exploded earlier on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at about 4.am in Ogere Lagos-Ibadan express way leaving two persons burnt to death, six tankers, five trucks and two cars razed.
As it touched off the ground, it sent off huge inferno, razing vehicled parked by the roadside and those trapped in the usual Lagos gridlock.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ogun, confirmed the incident to journalists.
In his words “…the fire is serious! Six tankers, five trucks and two cars have been burnt in the explosion”.
According to him, so far only one person has been rescued from the explosion and taken to a private hospital in Ogere.
Also, the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, has advised motorists plying the road to use alternative routes.
“Vehicles moving inbound Lagos should go through Saapade-Ode/Remo-Iperu-Sagamu to relink Lagos-Ibadan express way.
Again, vehicles moving inbound Ibadan should also go through Sagamu-Iperu-Ode/Remo-Saapade to relink Lagos-Ibadan express way” Akinbiyi said.
However, furher investigation revealed that two persons were burnt in the fire.
