The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has been honoured by the Urhobo people for his effective legislative representation and contributions to peace and development in Urhoboland.
The Urhobo People Integrity Organisation (UPIO) conferred an Integrity Award on the lawmaker at its 2025 awards ceremony held on Monday at Bon Hotel Hyatt, Ekpan, Delta State.
The event brought together prominent Urhobo leaders and stakeholders to recognise public office holders whose actions have made a measurable impact on the Urhobo Nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of UPIO, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, said the award was in recognition of Senator Dafinone’s “immeasurable contributions to the growth and advancement of the Urhobo Nation.”
He highlighted the senator’s pivotal role in restoring peace to Okuama Community following the military intervention, as well as his efforts in facilitating the release of the Ovie of Ewu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Clement Ikolo.
To underscore the significance of Senator Dafinone’s peace-building efforts in Okuama, the award was presented on behalf of UPIO by the Ovie of Ewu Kingdom, HRM Clement Ikolo.
The award was received by the senator’s Chief of Staff, Olorogun Barrister Adelabu Bodjor.
In a message of appreciation conveyed at the event, Senator Dafinone described the recognition as a motivation to deepen his service to the Urhobo people.
He assured UPIO of his continued partnership and support, reaffirming his commitment to people-centred representation anchored on peace-building, justice, and sustainable development across Urhoboland.
The ceremony was chaired by the President General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Olorogun Barrister Ese Gam Owe, and was attended by notable Urhobo sons and daughters from across Delta State, reflecting broad-based endorsement of Senator Dafinone’s leadership and legislative impact.
Also speaking at the event, the UPU President General commended Senator Dafinone for his representation and urged him to continue to promote and protect Urhobo interests.
He further called on all Urhobo sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite and work towards the collective advancement of the Urhobo Nation.
