The head, Association of Urhobo Mayoral Family Crown, AUMFC, Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, has congratulated the former Honourable Minister of the defunct Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and now the Minister of Regional Development, Mr. Abubakar Momoh, on what he described as his recent vertical promotion by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Akpodoro said for the president to add more portfolios to Momoh speaks volume of his erudite, astute and incredible performance in the defunct ministry of Niger Delta Affairs
He noted that his present portfolio is broader and more nationalistic saying only the Minister has the wherewithal to be so appointed.
Mayor Akpodoro stated this in a reaction to the appointment of new ministers into the cabinet of president Tinubu having severally called on the President to sack non performing ministers and replace them with capable hands who are willing to add their quota to national development.
The Presidency had shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2024 announced the scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta, Sports and others in a bid to reactivate the capacity of the current administration, a development that saw the Ministry of Niger Delta scrapped and renamed Regional Development with several regional development commissions under its purview.
Akpodoro sees this development as elevation and promotion on the part of Honourable Momoh who he said left a footprint of reformative administration in the defunct Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
The expanded Ministry of Regional Development AKpodoro noted requires one with administrative acumen like Abubakar who is a pan Nigerian nationalist with all it takes to criss-cross the nooks and cranies of the Nigerian federation in the management of regional agencies with the aim of taking develomemt down to the grassroot as he congratulated the Edo-born politician.
In same vein, the Mayor commended President Tinubu on the personalities he appointed in his expansion of the ministries saying of interest is the appointment of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
He noted that Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is an accomplished diplomat, lawyer, businesswoman, and former beauty pageant who is also a titleholder and daughter of a former governor.
Mrs. Ojukwu had previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and Spain and also Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, assuring that Mrs. Ojukwu brings with her a vast international experience to her new role.
President Tinubu, according to the Mayor, is widely known to be a talent hunter and with the current line-up of the new ministers and reassignment of roles to others, he has proven to be an agent of change and accelerated development.
Congratulating the ministers and commending them for their past efforts, Akpodoro called on Nigerians to support the administration and its renewed hope agenda for a new nation trudging to massive human and material development.
