A Nigerian cabin cleaner, Bala Zakari, has earned widespread praise for his honesty after returning a purse containing $730 (USD) and several credit cards that he discovered while cleaning a British Airways aircraft.
Zakari was carrying out his routine post-flight cleaning duties on British Airways Flight BA8382 when he found the purse tucked away at seat 35K.
Instead of keeping the valuable items, he immediately reported the discovery to the British Airways Cabin Services Duty Manager (CSDM).
Following standard airline procedures, the purse and all its contents were handed over to the British Airways Security team for safekeeping and to facilitate their return to the rightful owner.
The incident has been widely applauded as a remarkable example of integrity and professionalism.
In the aviation industry, cabin cleaners and ground staff play a critical role in ensuring aircraft are prepared for the next flight.
They occasionally come across personal belongings left behind by passengers, making honesty and strict adherence to lost-and-found procedures essential to maintaining passenger trust.
Zakari’s actions have been celebrated as a reflection of the values of accountability and ethical conduct, serving as a reminder that acts of integrity continue to inspire confidence in public service and the aviation sector alike.
