Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board chairmanship nominee, Chiedu Ebie, has said that he has no regrets over his suspension by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ebie, a former secretary to the state government (SSG), alongside others were suspended from the PDP in March, 2023 over alleged anti-party activities.
Ebie who spoke in Asaba during a visit to the state working committee of the APC led by Elder Omeni Sobotie to inform them of his nomination as NDDC chairman, said as a man of courage, he did not regret working against his own party at the time.
While declaring that he has no regrets working against the PDP while being a member of the party in the last general election, he said he and many others remained in the PDP during the elections for strategic reasons.
Ebie who visited with the nominee as Delta State representative on the board of the interventionist agency and former speaker of the State House of Assembly (DSHA), Monday Igbuya, pledged their commitment to the APC, and thanked the party’s leadership in the state for the solidarity and support.
“l will bring my character, work ethics and corporate governance principles to bear as chairman of the NDDC to deliver on its mandate. We are looking forward to working hard and at the end of the day, the president will not regret nominating us,” Ebie assured.
Receiving the nominees, Delta State chairman of the APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, lauded President Bola Tinubu, saying that the party in the state was solidly behind the nominations.
He said the nominees were members of the party who worked hard for its success in the last elections, saying that they were deserving of the appointments as round pegs in round holes.
“I am confident that Delta State will witness a new lease of life. I implore you to deploy your good offices to attract developmental projects to the state.
“APC stands with these nominations and supports these appointments. We stand with you and by you. We are grateful to Mr President for nominating both of you into the board of NDDC,” Sobotie stated.
