Students kidnap is now becoming another issue in Nigeria. From Chibok girls, it moved to Kankara in Katsina. From Kankara in Katsina to Kagara to Niger State and from Kagara to Jangebe in Zamfara state. No one can tell the next target of the bandits.
In all these kidnap cases, President Muhammadu Buhari has always given assurance of such incident not happening again. But such comments have not helped the situation. It has continued to happen despite such assurance.
Nigerian governments from state to the national have never paid serious attention to the security of Nigerians. It has been words of encouragement and assurances which have never yielded any good results.
At the release of the Zamfara students, President Buhari has assured again of securing the lives of Nigerians. Should we trust his words?

“I join the affected families and the people of Zamfara State in welcoming and celebrating the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe. This news brings overwhelming joy. I am pleased that their ordeal has come to a happy end without any incident.
“We are working hard to bring an end to these grim and heartbreaking incidents of kidnapping. The Military and the Police will continue to go after kidnappers. They need the support of local communities in terms of human intelligence that can help nip criminal plans in the bud.”
