The Defence Headquarters has expressed commitment to a peaceful transition to a new government on May 29.
The armed forces assured that the military and intelligence community were ready to counter any threat to national security.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami spoke on Thursday in Abuja at a press briefing.
The spokesperson advised citizens to ignore the apprehension created by the enemies of Nigeria predicting threats.
“The general elections have come and gone, winners have been announced. People are just being apprehensive.
“People have been predicting that this country will finish but nothing has happened,” Danmadami said.
He assured that the military will continue to give their best as they are not resting to ensure peace and security is sustained.
The intelligence community too, according to him, are working round the clock to maintain stability.
Danmadami said Nigerians should not be afraid about May 29 as the military would “address whatever calamity that wants to come up”.
“We are ready…There is no cause for alarm and everything is under control,” the spokesperson added.
