Wizkid breaks new ground, wins 2021 MTV video music awards

Brown Skin Girl’, a song by Beyoncé, featuring Blue Ivy, SAINt JHN, and Wizkid has won the ‘Best Cinematography’ category in the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).

The 2021 edition of the award event was held in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on Sunday night.

Doja Cat, an American rapper, hosted the ceremony while top music stars vied for the award’s Moonperson statues.

Lil Nas X, US rapper, took home multiple awards, including the highly coveted ‘Video of the Year’ gong as well as the statues for the ‘Best Direction’ and ‘Best Visual Effects’ categories for his single ‘Montero (Call Me by Your Name)’.

Other winners are Olivia Rodrigo, who won ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Song of the Year’ (for ‘Drivers License’), and Justin Bieber, who snagged both ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Best Pop’ for his song ‘Peaches’.

Billie Eilish won ‘Video for Good’ for her ballad ‘Your Power’ while BTS bagged the ‘Group of the Year’ award.

Another big winner is Travis Scott, who won ‘Best Hip-Hop’ for ‘Franchise’.
