In a vibrant display of unity and purpose, the First Lady of Delta State and founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, led women and supporters in the maiden edition of the You Matter Walk for Life on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
The health-focused event, which began at Inter-Bau Roundabout in Asaba, saw participants walking along the Anwai–Illah Road and concluding at the Office of the First Lady in the New Government House. The walk targeted a collective goal of 10,000 steps per participant and featured aerobic exercises, praise worship, and prayer interludes.
In her remarks, Deaconess Oborevwori described the initiative as more than a fitness challenge, calling it “a movement of purpose” aimed at promoting holistic wellness—physical, spiritual, and emotional—among women and families across Delta State.
“The goal of today’s walk is to achieve 10,000 steps! We do this by multiplying our individual efforts—one step at a time—walking together in unity and with shared purpose,” she declared.
Citing 1 Timothy 4:8, she encouraged participants to combine physical activity with spiritual discipline, stressing that a sound body and mind are essential for fulfilling divine purpose.
Deaconess Oborevwori praised the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation, calling it a testament to the unity, resilience, and shared vision of Delta women. She expressed appreciation to the Federal Road Safety Corps, fitness instructors, and the Government House chaplain for their roles in ensuring a safe and spiritually enriching experience.
“We have prayed, stretched, danced, and bonded in joy and unity. My prayer is that everyone returns home healthier, stronger, and more inspired,” she said, assuring attendees that this was just the beginning of a recurring wellness initiative.
Venerable Charles Osemene, Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, in a short charge, urged participants to embrace humility, unity, and service to God and humanity.
Representing the women in a vote of thanks, Mrs. Timiebi Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, lauded the First Lady’s selfless leadership and deep commitment to the welfare of women in the state.
The event ended on a high note, with prayers for peace, health, and prosperity in Delta State, as participants celebrated the success of the inaugural You Matter Walk for Life.
