A Niger Delta group, the Urhobo Integrity Club Worldwide, UICW, has congratulated the Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, on the second anniversary of his mayorial stool.
The group led by Chief Oghneochuko Edafe at an event in Ughelli LGA, Delta state, said Mayor AKpodoro since being crowned the Mayor of Urhoboland by the Okpako Orere in Gberegolor, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, he has breath fresh air into the life of Urhobo nation across every facet of human endeavours.
Chief Edafe, a Nigerian-Australian, noted with excitement that Mayor Akpodoro has touched the lives of the youth population of Urhoboland in no little measure, same he said goes for the elderly adding that his synergy with the traditional institution in Urhobo is making positive impacts as he called for closer tie for rapid growth and development of Urhobo nation..
According to UICW, the Mayorial stool may be alien to the consciousness of the people but the group noted that the Mayor is the face of his people wherever he goes adding that Mayor Akpodoro has been representing Urhobo nation well particularly in interfacing with government at all levels.
“We have found it very necessary to congratulate the Mayor of Urhoboland on the occasion of his second year anniversary. It’s our wish that God empowers him to deliver his ordained service to humanity.
“Our group calls on illustrious sons and daughters of Urhoboland to rally support for the Mayor to be able to achieve his lofty goals for our nation while calling on the federal government to assign roles to the Mayor who he noted is the creator of the fragile peace in the Niger Delta region.
“Our region is blessed with Mayor Akpodoro and his types are not common among ethnic nationalities and this is why we are celebrating Urhobo nation, Mayor of Urhoboland and entire traditional institution in our land,” Edafe stated adding that with the Mayor in the saddle, Urhobo speaking people of the world will witness what he described as massive human and material development.
In same vein, another group, the Urhobo Youth Forum for Change, UYFC lent its voice to congratulate the Mayor. It described him as development-driven, goal getting and superlative leadership of Urhobo Youths stressing that the Mayor is imprinting his feet in the sand of time, making positive impacts wherever he goes and that at the fullness of time, the verdict of history shall be kind to him.
Recall that, February 17th 2024 will mark the second year anniversary of Mayor Akpodoro within which he has made tremendous progress in the empowerment of the downtrodden in Urhoboland. His conflict resolution mechanism within Urhoboland and beyond, according to a cross section of his people is second to none .
“Our Mayor has a way of stepping into touchy issues even in the thick of communal crisis our Mayor ensures peace reigns and that accounts for why we call him Justice of the Peace,” the crowd at the event chorused.
