Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and his Taraba State counterpart, Dr Agbu Kefas are expected as Special Guests of Honour at the 2024 Press Week Lecture and Award Ceremony of Delta Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
According to a statement signed by Elder Barry Agbanigbi, Chairman of the Press Week Planning Committee, and the Secretary, Mrs. Oris Aniretan,
the ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 30, 2024, at the NUJ Press Centre, Asaba, beginning at 11.00 a.m.
While saying that, “Imperative of Proper Political Leadership Recruitment for Good Governance” is the theme for the week, the statement added that the event is also expected to be graced by three Niger Delta senators, namely Comrade Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa West); Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North), and Prince Ned Nwoko (Delta North) who will be the discussants of the theme.
It said the Member Representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, will be the Chairman of the Lecture and award ceremony co-chaired by a veteran journalist and an elder statesman, Chief Chris Biose.
It further added that a former member representing Oregon Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Patrick Obanyagbon, will deliver the keynote address while the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge, will be the Royal Father of the day.
The three-day programme, the committee said, will commence on Sunday, December 29, 2024, with media awareness/thanksgiving day for NUJ members all over the state.
It said the thanksgiving venue for those in the state capital territory area is Living Faith Church, Okpanam at 9.00 a.m prompt.
The third day, according to the statement, which is Tuesday, December 31, 2024, is Community Development Service Day, where members are expected to carry out the cleanup exercises in some parts of the state.
The statement enjoined all members of the council, particularly those in the capital territory areas to participate actively in the events as scheduled.
