The new entrant into the presidential race under the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, is no longer a member of Lagos state APC, Emerald News can report.
Osibanjo, the vice president of Nigeria has kept many Nigerians wondering in the last few months whether he was interested in the race or not. But on Monday morning, the internet went abuzz with his declaration to join the presidential race.
His entrance into the race has knocked his head with his political godfather, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he has described as his father. But Tinubu, in an interview with journalists at the state house said he has no son grown enough to declare to run with him. This shows he has denied Osibanjo as his political son.
According to Politics Nigeria, Osibanjo’s media aide, Laolu Akande when asked about Osinbajo’s membership, revealed that his principal was no longer a member of the ruling party in Lagos state.
He confirmed that Osinbajo had moved his membership to Ogun State when he revalidated his APC membership status in ward one, Ikenne, Ogun state on 9th February 2021.
Before his movement, Osinbajo was a chieftain of the Lagos APC with his polling unit at Code 33, Unit 2 Victoria Garden City, Lagos.
This newspaper also reported that Tinubu is said to be unhappy with his former political ‘godson’ over his ambition. The APC national leader is also contesting for president in 2023 and is said to be super keen on achieving his ‘life-long’ ambition.
