Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of treating her with disdain and running the National Assembly with what she described as “dictatorship.”
Speaking on Monday, Senator Natasha said she had been unfairly treated by Akpabio, comparing his attitude toward her to that of an employer to a domestic servant.
“Senator Akpabio is not more of a senator than I am. He is not the governor of the Senate. He treated me as if I was a domestic servant in his house. It’s very unfortunate that at this time after democracy, we have a National Assembly that is being run by such dictatorship. That’s unacceptable,” she declared.
The senator, who is among those recently suspended, stressed that the suspension has not stopped her from fulfilling her responsibilities to her constituents.
“Even though we have been illegally suspended, I’ve not hesitated in carrying out my duties as a senator of Kogi Central. No day passes without me looking for opportunities to deliver infrastructure, projects, or jobs for my people, because I don’t want them to suffer,” Natasha said.
Her comments add to the growing tension within the Senate, where accusations of heavy-handed leadership have trailed Akpabio since he assumed office as Senate President.
