A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emmanuel Eboh, has reiterated that Senator Ned Nwoko remains solely committed to the creation of Anioma State, with Asaba as its capital, as stipulated in the bill he sponsored at the National Assembly.
Eboh, who is the political adviser to the Delta North senator, made the clarification in a statement issued in Asaba, emphasising that Senator Nwoko’s resolve to actualise Anioma State is unwavering and rooted in the original vision of its founding fathers, led by Sir Dennis Osadebay more than 70 years ago.
He explained that while the senator respects and supports state creation agitations in other parts of the country, Anioma’s quest is distinct and non-negotiable.
According to him, Anioma State will neither merge with any other proposed state nor contemplate relocating its capital from Asaba.
Eboh stated that Senator Nwoko is fully focused on the realisation of Anioma State and is not engaged in discussions with any group aimed at altering the provisions of the bill, which has already passed second reading and public hearing stages at the National Assembly.
He further noted that the senator’s determination has been reinforced by increasing support from more than 100 pro-Anioma interest groups, as well as endorsements from about 95 senators.
Describing the Anioma State agitation as a legitimate and just cause, Eboh said it is firmly anchored on the principles of justice, equity and true federalism.
He also expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their continued support, describing Senator Nwoko’s initiative as the most bold and far-reaching legislative effort toward the creation of Anioma State by any Anioma-born senator in recent history.
