Professor Lawrence Barabiba Ekpebu, an Ijaw opinion leader has died on Sunday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.
According to DAILY WATCH, the president of Ijaw National Congress, INC, Prof Benjamin Okaba in a condolence statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha announced the death and commiserated with the family and Ijaw nation.
He advised the Ijaw people to bear the loss of the Ijaw academic and leader.
The statement further reads, ”In as much as death is inevitable, everyone must pass through it, when it comes, it comes with pains and sorrows to the affected family members, relations and friends
According to the INC President, ”Prof Ekpebu’s wealth of experience will be missed by the Ijaw nation, particularly at this period when the Ijaw nation needs our best brains”
The statement noted that Prof. Ekpebu till date remains the only black who won 109 years graduation prize Scholarship from Harvard University.
The INC President prayed to God for the immediate family to have the fortitude to bear the loss as the Ijaw nation mourns.
