For the few days coastal communities in Delta state are being submerged by the ravaging flood. Most of the communities have been taking over, homes, families, farmlands and farm produce have been overtaken by the flood.
Roads have been cut off, families have lost means of livelihood and people are daily looking up to the government for salvation. While the government cannot be blamed for the sweeping flood, the government has a responsibility to assuage the pains of the people.
In the days of the former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, he was seen in boat on self paddle to meet the people in affected communities.
In the midst of the pains and destruction of Delta communities, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is busy holding political meetings for 2023 presidential election in Abuja. His plans for his Delta people is yet to be unravelled.
Okowa must needs come to the aid of his people and provide necessary materials for the welfare of his people. He cannot be holding political meetings while his people, their communities, farm settlement are perishing.
