Bayelsa State Monarch and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections, HRH Israel Sunny-Goli (Kemmer V), has called on Youth groups in Niger Delta Communities to throw their weight behind proactive leadership that are innovative, humble and listens in order to sustain existing peace in their community.
According to HRH Israel Sunny-Goli (Kemmer V),every community must a have a vibrant youth leadership to kickstart that process of preparing the youths for the peace, development and effective future.
The monarch, who spoke at the grand finale of the 4th edition of the International Youth Day Celebration organized by the Okpoama Kingdom Youth Movement held on Sunday in Okpoama, Brass Local Government Area of the state.
The four-day youth programme was organized by the Community Youth body and included cultural dance by the Bright Future Cultural group.
HRH Sunny-Goli, who was the chairman of the occasion applauded the Okpoama Youth President, Engr. Seiyefa Felix Ben-Basuo, describing him as a vibrant leader who has done impressively well since assumption of office.
He also lauded and attributed Seiyefa’s innovative character, peaceful disposition, and humility as part of the reason for the peace being enjoyed in the coastal community.
He said, “Every community must have a very vibrant youth leadership to kickstart that process of preparing the youths for the future. Fortunately, Okpoama Kingdom is blessed with that needed vibrant youth leadership in the person of Engr. Seiyefa Ben-Basuo.”
“Since his assumption of office as the youth president of Okpoama Kingdom, the community has witnessed absolute peace. And we know that peace is the only ingredient that can bring about development in any society. Without peace nothing good can be achieved.”
“In enthroning a leadership, the leader himself must be an epitome of peace, that is why I said Okpoama is blessed for having Seiyefa as their Youth President.”
The Monarch added that the Okpoama Kingdom Youth leadership has proven itself worthy of leading the community.
He further stated that his decision to grace the occasion was informed by how well Seiyefa has performed as youth leader of the community as well as the peope-oriented initiatives and youth empowerment programmes he has undertaken as youth leader.
The traditional ruler declared that he is ready to support the youth president in his future endeavors, stating that community youth presidency is just a stepping stone to higher leadership capacities.
