Control Rooms Now Track Every Police Stop as Command Vows to Crush Harassment
The Anambra State Police Command has unveiled a real-time monitoring system to supervise all checkpoints and patrol teams, in a bold move to end the scourge of police extortion and harassment across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, ordered the new mechanism following widespread complaints during his recent security stakeholder meetings across the state’s three senatorial districts.
How It Works
Operational control rooms will now maintain closer oversight of all patrol formations and checkpoints, with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders required to account for every personnel deployed to strategic locations.
“Reports and complaints relating to misconduct, extortion or other forms of unprofessional conduct will be promptly received, monitored and escalated for necessary action,” said spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
CP’s Stern Warning
Ama made it clear: no officer would be permitted to abuse their responsibility to exploit members of the public. Any personnel caught engaging in extortion or misconduct will face appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with the law.
