President Muhammadu Buhari has made it known that the current flooding, desert encroachment and drought being encountered in different parts of the country are all negative fallouts of climate change.
As maintained by Vanguard, Buhari made this known in a statement signed by Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the President on media and publicity, during an audience he granted the former United Nations secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon at the First World Bio summit 2022, in Seoul, South Korea.
Ban Ki-moon sympathised with the President over the flooding and called for more investment to ward off environmental degradation and preventive diseases, noting that Nigeria is a very important country with prominent citizens in charge of sensitive positions in global organisations.
He stated that his pet project, Global Centre on Adaptation is trying to moblize resources to assist developing countries fight climate change. Ban Ki-moon urged donor countries to meet with their financial commitments to the Global Climate Fund.
