Supporters of the Labour Party candidate for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial Elections has revealed how a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ogidi Ben Bara, was captured destroying ballot papers during Saturday’s general elections in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa state.

The Supporters of Furoebi Freedom Sheba Akene, the Labour Party candidate, raised the alarm on Saturday, disclosing that the ballot papers of units 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Southern Ijaw ward 12, belonging to Fonibiri community were utterly destroyed and “thrown into the river” by the alleged Ben Bara.

An eyewitness of the incident who want to remain anonymous said “Bara Ogidi is not a registered voter in any of the units in Fonibiri community but came from Eniwari community to perpetrate the act. The units are units 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Southern Ijaw ward 12 located in Fonibiri.

“The whole drama started when PDP lost the first polling unit. He saw that there was no hope for PDP,” he said.

Benjamin Ogidi Ben Bara, who is the owner of ‘Track News Online’, while reacting to the incident, revealed through his social media platform that he only played the role of patriotism by organising a team of young adults who “rescued the ballot boxes and some materials” to safety.

The CEO of Track News, further accused the candidate of the Bayelsa Central Senatorial Labour Party, Furoebi Freedom Sheba Akene, of destroying ballot papers.
