Community members, youth leaders applaud Ogbaru LGA efforts at making Atani road motorable

The challenge of road infrastructure in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state remains top most concern to the people of the area.

 

As more new roads are begging to be constructed, the existing ones are gradually becoming impassable, including the Obodo-Ukwu Road, Ede Road and Atani-Ozubulu Road amongst others are no longer passable.

Aside the threat at Deeper Life junction, where the River Niger has created big under water erosion which has dangerously begun an unholy kiss on the road, there are pockets of failed portions on the Atani Road which include: Naval Check-point section, Chief Afam Odogwu’s residence section, Ejinkeonye section among others.

 

The Ogbaru local government council has remained steadfast in maintaining the lone road traversing 14 out of its 16 communities.

 

The chairman of the Ogbaru Council, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu reopened the Naval Check – point section at Okpotuno after fixing the failed portion which had started to stuck vehicles.

 

A number of goods leaden vehicles had tripped over owning to big vallies created, while many had broken down at that spot.

 

The joy of motorists and other road users knew no bound following the intervention of the Council Chairman in fixing the section same way he had fixed other bad sections of the road.

 

The Chairman of Ogbaru Driver’s Welfare, simply identified as Jakidom, said that the failed portion had remained nightmarish to drivers who ply the road especially the members of the Driver’s Welfare, Ogbaru Chapter, commended the Council Chairman for his intervention.

 

Also speaking, the APGA Youth Leaders of Atani Ward 1, Mr. Phillip Ejinkeonye Ugboma said he was always worried about the bad section at Naval check point each time the wife was to drive along the Atani Road, fearing the fate of the bottom plate of the vehicle among others as a result of the state of the road.

 

Reopening the repaired failed section to traffic, the Council Chairman, Hon. Awogu, said that much as the Council lacked capacity to fix roads, that it will continue to complement the efforts of the State government in making roads in Ogbaru motorable.

 

He revealed that work will soon start on a number of roads in Okpoko as the State government has concluded arrangements to fix roads in Okpoko.

 

The Council Chairman further called for patience as the challenge of road infrastructure in Ogbaru will soon be fully addressed by the Governor
