Finally, kidnapped Joan Onyemaechi former Delta state commissioner for technical education has been released. The is confirmed by a post on Facebook by her aide, Ngozi Onwordi Fortune.
Beside the post by her side, the Delta state police public relations officer, Bright Edafe, has also confirmed her release, though failed to give further details, according to The Town Hall online portal.
The former commissioner who resigned her position to pave way for her brother, Jude Chukwuwinke, to contest chairmanship of Aniocha south local government council, was abducted on Tuesday last week.
She was abducted during a worship service in her church, King Jesus and I along DBS road, Asaba, the capital of Delta state. She had spent ten days in the den of the kidnappers.
Earlier reports say her abductors requested the ransom of N1billion for her release. However, this online newspaper cannot independently confirm how much was eventually paid for her release. Authorities always keep this secret, sometimes denying payment of ransom.
