COVID-19: Nigeria records 245 confirmed cases in 23 states, total 7261, death now 221

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced a total of 245 confirmed cases of COVID-19 for Friday, May 22, 2020. The announcement was made on the agency’s twitter handle at 11.35pm.

The figure is significantly higher than the figure released on Thursday May 21. In the figure released, Lagos has 131, Jigawa 16, Ogun 13, Borno 12, Kaduna 9, Rivers 9, Oyo 9, Kaduna 9, Kano 8 and others.

The total confirmed cases as at May 22 was 7261, with 2007 discharged and 221 deaths.

The agency said it is searching for active cases in Bayelsa state.

“We are training health workers at General Hospital, Amasoma on identification & follow-up of patients with specific #COVID19 symptoms to be able to identify more cases for testing,” the disease control agency said in a tweet on Friday.
