Senator Ede Dafinone has condemned what he described as the “gruesome and brutal” murder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Mr. Ese Idisi.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, the Delta Central lawmaker said he was “deeply shocked, sad and utterly” distressed by the killing.
Mr. Idisi, whom Dafinone described as a devoted party man, was praised for his loyalty, commitment, and steadfast belief in democratic values.
The senator noted that his death was not only a painful loss to his family and the APC but also to the entire Delta State political community.
Dafinone called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to immediately commence a full, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into the incident.
He insisted that those responsible must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted without delay, stressing that justice must be both delivered and seen to be delivered.
“This is a moment that demands calm, restraint, and faith in the justice system,” he said, urging APC members, supporters, and Ethiope East residents to avoid retaliatory actions.
According to him, any form of violence would only worsen the situation and distract from efforts to secure justice for the slain party official.
The senator appealed to community leaders, youths, and stakeholders in Ethiope East to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that could assist in the investigation.
He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and that community support could prove crucial in tracking down the perpetrators.
Dafinone also offered condolences on behalf of his family and political associates to the bereaved family, the APC leadership in Delta State, and the people of Ethiope East. He described Idisi’s death as a “colossal loss” and prayed for the repose of his soul.
