Days of Rage Protest: Flush out subversive elements, rein in Andrew Wynne, collaborators now – Mayor Akpodoro tells FG

The Mayor of Urhoboland and popular ex-militant leader, Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, has lent weight to the declaration of a British national, Andrew Wynne, a Nigerian, Ehis Obiyan and others involved in the alleged attempt to unconstitutionally change Nigeria’s constitutional democracy to be brought to book.

Appalled by the news of a British national leading the pack of notorious elements who hide under the veneer of a planned national and executed national protest aimed at toppling the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Mayor made this call in his Mayoral Palace in Ughelli, Delta State, Nigeria’s South-South region.

He called on the security agencies to go after everyone involved no matter how highly placed in the society. He notd that the country cannot afford a military rule at this point of “our national life.”

He called on the government not to leave any stone unturned in its bid to rein in criminal elements who intended to drag the military to power for selfish reasons saying scapegoats should be made out of everyone involved.

He noted that except punitive measures are applied to end such criminal notions in some unpatriotic fellows, most desperados would stop at nothing to end the democracy the nation suffered for to bath in the country.

Wynne, Akpodoro said, should not be allowed to go scotfree ditto his accomplices to serve as a deterrent to others who may harbour such evil thoughts.

Apparently, the modern ruler of Urhoboland said the plan to topple the government was not a recent one adding that disgruntled political enemies must be part of the wider investigation to nip a may be future occurrence in the bud.

He insisted that the activities of some politicians lately points in the direction that Wynne and Obiyan were not alone in their undemocratic move.

The British, according to the former warrior, enslaved Africans for decades in their era of imperialism and slave trade stressing that for the decendants of such ‘conceited generation’ to wake up in the 21st century global community mobilising dissidents to topple a government that “we all suffered under the rain and sunshine to vote to power” a mandate that was overwhelmingly given to a democratically elected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is an insult to the collective sensibilities of all well-meaning Nigerians.

He added that such criminal gang must be dismantled” saying enough is enough for the recklessness of those whose pride it is to de-market Nigeria in the global socio-political space.

The president, he noted, must strongly assert his leadership saying, Nigerians did not vote for military rule and have not elected anyone to axiphiate democracy in the country on their behalf as he called on politicians who are not comfortable with the choice of the current operators of the Nigeria’s political system to have a change of mind or face the wrath of the law.

Akpodoro, who was one of the major opposition to the August 1st 2024 mass protest, said he has been vindicated with the latest developments having staunchly attacked the idea of a national protest codenamed ten days of rage.

As the name implies, the Urhobo-born prodigy stated that the aim of the sponsors of that protest was nothing short of overthrowing the constituted government that is trying its best to exit the nation from the woods of socio-economic backwardness.

Wynne’s progenitors, the Mayor noted laid the foundation for the ills in the Nigerian state and still promoting wanton corruption that’s the clog in the wheel of Nigeria’s national progress, wondering why such unscrupulous element found plausible to attempt to take back the country into the dark days of military era when life was short and brutish in a rule by a few instead of promoting civilised leadeship as it is in other parts of the world?

He advised Wynne to destabilise his country and not the most populous black nation in the world.

For the Nigerian politicians who he holds in contempt for the failed attempt, Akpodoro advised the government to keep them under scrutiny by closely monitoring their day to day activities, noting that a particular secessionist and tribal bigot who pretends to be a democrat gaslighting the activities of this government and misrepresenting facts to fit his perversions should also be under the apparatus security scrutiny saying Nigerians did not elect him to agitate on their behalf.

“That dubious fellow is among the pack of those who are working tirelessly to undermine democratic rule in Nigeria. He contested and lost election and should allow for peace or be made to face the law if he continues the way he’s going.

“He wears two faces; a democrat and the other a secessionist who thought he could cajole Nigerians into voting him to power through his weapon of religious blackmail but he was overwhelmingly rejected, at the polls. His bunch of ethnocentric leaders should call him to order before it is too late for such character.

“Nobody is above the law, nor can anyone hold Nigeria hostage for any reason. The state he ruled is in ruin to date and he bequeathed anarchy on his people who found occupation in bloodbath, killing their kits and kins in their secessionist agenda that has added no value to them yet, he’s first to hop out attacking the government at every opportunity.

“The president must assert his presidency and that the reasons Nigerians voted for him” the Mayor stated adding that the time is ripe for the current administration to regulate the media space, noting that the new media is more of a problem to Nigeria than solution and so, it must be strictly regulated.

Recall that the Nigeria police had declared one suspect identified as a foreign mercenary, a British national called Andrew Wynne who is also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey wanted, for allegedly sponsoring terrorism in the country.

The police also said the investigation of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has revealed the level of involvement of the foreigner as the NLC did not even know the real identity of the person occupying their building.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while briefing journalists in Abuja on Monday, said Andrew built a network of sleeper cells to topple the government and plunge the nation into chaos.

Similarly, the police declared Lucky Ehis Obiyan, who is alleged to be a local coordinator for Andrew, wanted, adding that global hunting for them has commenced in connection with the investigation.
