The Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has called on Christians and Nigerians at large to reflect on the true meaning of Easter, stressing the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of hope, salvation, and reconciliation between God and humanity.
In his Easter message on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Elumelu observed that Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, three days after His crucifixion, remains the cornerstone of the Christian faith.
According to him, the resurrection signifies the triumph of life over death and light over darkness, offering mankind the pathway for redemption and eternal life.
He emphasized that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, humanity has been reconciled to God, describing it as the ultimate expression of God’s unconditional love for mankind. He urged Christians to rise above their past shortcomings and deepen their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, assuring that His resurrection offers a fresh start filled with hope and grace.
“Elumelu stated, “Easter reminds us of the boundless love of God, who sacrificed His only Son for the salvation of humanity. It is a season that calls for deep reflection, renewed faith, and total commitment to righteous living.”
The former Minority Leader further called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers, especially for peace and security in the country, as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“At this critical time in our national life, we must be relentless in our prayers for unity, peace, and stability. We must commit Nigeria into the hands of God, particularly as we have entered another election cycle,” he said.
Elumelu also extended prayers for global peace, with particular reference to tensions in the Middle East, warning that instability in the region has far-reaching implications for global and national economies.
The lawmaker appreciated the efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in steering the nation towards progress, expressing optimism that the President’s good intentions for Nigeria would continue to yield positive results.
He also commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for his commitment to peace, security, and infrastructural development across the state.
Elumelu particularly lauded the Governor for the commissioning of the 4.8-kilometre Oko phase 1 Road in Oshimili South Local Government Area within the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the State, describing it as a great delight and a clear demonstration of the Governor’s administration’s love and passion for the people.
He called on the people of Delta State to continue to support, cooperate with, and pray for the Governor, especially as he implements his MORE Agenda with Renewed Hope for the overall development of the state.
On behalf of the Elumelu family and his political associates, Rt. Hon. Elumelu wished “all Nigerians, particularly the people of Aniocha/Oshimili and Delta State, a fulfilling and joyous Easter celebration”, urging them “to remain steadfast in faith, love, and unity for a better nation”.
