In a condolence message on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Elumelu said he received the news of Dr. Ojei’s death with disbelief, noting that the late business icon was a man of rare vision, integrity and compassion whose life was devoted to service, enterprise and humanity.

According to him, Dr. Ojei’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy through entrepreneurship, job creation and investments across sectors remain indelible, adding that his philanthropic gestures touched countless lives within and outside Delta State.
