A former minister of aviation who is currently representing Anambra North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Stella Oduah, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress.
This is contained in a statement on Thursday by the National Director, Publicity of the APC, Salisu Dambatta, in Abuja and titled, ‘Senator Stella Oduah dumps PDP, joins APC’.
The statement explained that Oduah was received at a brief ceremony in Abuja by the leadership of the party.
It added that the Senator was admitted into the party by the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, who is also the Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni.
The statement also said the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, and the APC candidate in the November 6 Anambra governorship election 2021 election, Senator Andy Uba were at the occasion.
Oduah, according to the statement, “is the latest of high-profile members of the former ruling party who joined the APC recently.”
Buni, the statement added, congratulated the defector for joining the APC and assured her of rights as all other members of the party.
“You will enjoy the privileges enjoyed by all members of the party because you will have a waiver,” Bunu said.
Oduah, the statement added, said she joined the APC family as part of the process of the changing political narrative in the South East.
She assured the APC leadership that she had “defected to the APC along with her multitude of supporters who have been jubilating in Anambra state.”
