A cross section of individuals in Asaba, Delta state have blamed the Enugu Adoration members for vandalizing the secretariat of Enugu Catholic Diocese over the reported disappearance of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka last week.
Elder Fidelis Ugala said the protesters did not have the fear of God in them.
Elder Ugala added that the invasion of the bishop’s house to vandalize the secretariat was a slight to the bishop, Rt. Rev. Fr. Callistus Onaga.
Also, Mrs. Celina Mmadu told Emerald News that the protesters did more harm than good.
According to Mrs. Mmadu said their actions rather compounded the problem of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, adding that the protesters were the example of people the holy Bible described as the reprobate minds.
“The protesters are not real Roman Catholic Church members because it’s not in the character of the Catholics to disobey the church leadership” she added.
In his own contribution, Engr. Wisdom Dede, who frowned at the attitude of the protesters, said they owe an apology to the bishop and members of Enugu Catholic Dioceses for vandalizing the church property.
He, however, called on christians to fear God and not man, stating that in a bid to protect Fr. Mbaka, they ended up disobeying God.
Emerald News also gathered that suspending Fr. Mbaka from officiating in his activities in adoration ground attracted mixed feelings from people especially the Catholic faithful.
This medium reports that some people welcomed the idea of stopping Fr. Mbaka from the adoration activities for 30 days, others were against it as they were of the opinion that the Enugu Catholic Diocese would have warned him not to utter any further word against the government in the course of his ministration while allowing him to conduct his usual mass in his ministry.
It would be recalled that Bishop Callistus Onaga as well as the Catholic Diocese of Enugu have embarked on seven days fasting and prayer for reparation and atonement of the acts of the protesters.
