Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, recently met with market leaders from various Igbo markets in the state to discuss the recent demolition of properties. The meeting, facilitated by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, aimed to clarify the state government’s intentions and debunk misinformation surrounding the issue.
During the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and Igbo market leaders. The discussions focused on the recent demolition at Alaba International Market, aiming to provide accurate information to the public. To ensure transparency, a joint working committee has been established to verify facts and disseminate correct information.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, stating, “Our conversation here this afternoon has cleared the air… Where wrongs have been expressed, we have corrected all of the issues.” He highlighted the importance of collaboration and further engagement between the government and the Igbo community in Lagos.
Governor Uzodinma commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his responsiveness to the concerns raised by Igbo residents. He appreciated the immediate establishment of a technical committee to address the issues at hand. Uzodinma assured Igbo residents in Lagos of their protection and encouraged them to continue their businesses without fear of molestation.
