President of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Prince Kehinde Taiga, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deceived Nigerians during his campaign for elections.
According to Taiga, President Tinubu told Nigerians that nobody who has corruption tag or a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will be part of his cabinet.
He told Emerald News on phone that “Tinubu said people who have cases with EFCC will not be part of his cabinet. But today, out of the 45 persons he wants to swear in on Monday, a lot of them have cases with EFCC which they have not cleared.
“Some of the immediate past governors who failed elections in their states are part of the people he wants to swear in as ministers.
“This is not what he promised us. He promised that he will not appoint anybody who has issues of corruption hanging on his head.
“This means the president has deceived Nigerians. This implies that nothing good will come out of his government. Even the senate president has issues with EFCC.
“This current administration may be worse than the last one. For him to have appointed failed governors, there may not be anything good coming out of his administration.
“50 percent of his appointees have pending issues with EFCC bordering on corruption. We are appealing to the tribunal to give fair judgment regarding cases before it. This is because Nigerians know who they voted for.”
