The coronavirus pandemic is spreading in Delta very dangerously. Nobody had thought the coronavirus pandemic will grow in Delta like this. Out of 25 local government areas, the virus has penetrated 21 council areas and it’s ferociously moving, breaking boundaries, killing some along its path.
Not less than 20 persons have been killed in the state, some of whom are high profile persons who have money but their money couldn’t rescue them. Only four council areas have not been touched by the pandemic. Though many still remain in disbelief over the existence of the virus, their unbelief is rather aiding the spread of the virus than curtailing its wave.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had on Saturday, expressed fear over the wave of the pandemic, saying if care is not taking, Delta could be the next epicenter of the lethal coronavirus pandemic. Melinda Gates had predicted that Africa’s streets will be loaded with bodies of dead people from the virus, but it has not got to that level and will not get to that in Africa and Nigeria.
For those of us in Delta state Nigeria, we need to understand that our unbelief will not drive the virus away from the state. Rather, we should come to terms with the fact that the virus is existing with us and we need to protect ourselves and follow the COVID-19 protocol as laid down by the government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
For those in these six local government areas, we need extra-carefulness for us not to contract the virus. As at Monday morning, June 29, 2020, the following council areas are thee worse hit. And people living in these places are more prone to the virus.
Warri South 132
Uwvie 114
Oshimili South 234
Oshimili North 89
Ughelli North 87
Sapele 77
These six local government areas, anyone living in them should be watchful and prayerful.
