Recharge card (airtime) was reportedly listed among lifelines for the rescue of a village head kidnapped by bandits in Kaduna State.
Reports gathered that the village head of Rijana, in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Ayuba Dodo Dakolo, was abducted by the terrorists alongside other farmers at Kurmi, near Chikwale in the same LGA yesterday.
Daily Trust reports that a source from Rijana on Thursday confirmed that the bandits have reached out to community leaders in Rijana with two lists.
Some of the items on the list include gallons of petrol and engine oil as well as cigarettes.
“We have spoken with the village head and he is fine. However, the bandits have also asked us to provide them with recharge cards and threatened to kill him if we don’t,”said a member of the community.
No comment, however, has been received on the incident from the Kaduna State Police Command.
Neither was the state spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, available to respond to calls when he was contacted by the media house.
A senior police officer in the state has, however, confirmed that security agents had been notified of the development.
