Former Delta State Labour Party governorship candidate, Deacon Ken Pela and member representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Representatives, Hon Ngozi Okolie, at the weekend stormed Aniocha North local government area to drum support for Labour Party in the Saturday council elections.
The two chieftains of the party were received by the local government LP chairman, Onyebuchi Oshukwudo, chairmanship candidate, Dr. Augustine Ojogbo, councillorship candidates, officials of the party and large crowd of supporters and members of the party at Idumu-Ogo from where the campaign train moved to Issele-Uku and Onicha-Ugbo.
Speaking at the rallies, Deacon Pela and Hon Okolie called on the people of Aniocha North to vote massively for the party’s chairmanship candidate, Dr Augustine Ojogbo, and all the councillorship candidates in order to enthrone credible and development-oriented leadership.
They pointed out that Aniocha North had been lacking in development over the years and noted that time had come to change the narrative by voting LP candidates for accelerated development.
Deacon Pela said with the large crowd of supporters in the various communities, LP would coast home with landslide victory in the council elections.
The former governorship candidate urged the people of Aniocha North to dismiss the insinuation that the elections had been concluded and promised the readiness of LP to shock opposition parties at the polls.
He commended LP in Aniocha North for embracing gender equality in picking their candidates and advised the councillorship candidates to work hard to deliver the wards.
Deacon Pela presented the party’s flags to the Chairmanship candidate, Dr Augustine Ojogbo who in turn presented the flags to councillorship candidates.
Speaking at the rallies at Onicha-Olona which held earlier before the arrival of Deacon Pela and Hon Okolie and
other rallies at Idumu-Ogo, Issele-Uku and Onicha-Ugbo, the Chairmanship candidate, Dr Augustine Ojogbo said LP was ready to change the poor state of development of the area to a state of prosperity and accelerated development.
Dr. Ojogbo stated that he had the experience, integrity and capacity to lead the local government by using the financial and human resources to advance the wellbeing of the people.
“I will give the health facilities in the area a facelift, improve primary education, stop illegal fees in schools, encourage agricultural development, eliminate insecurity in the communities, enroll the elderly in health insurance scheme, establish intra community transportation and reorientate the youths on ethical values”, he stated.
Dr Ojogbo said if elected he would give UBA an ultimatum to reopen their branch at Issele-Uku failing which would force the council to move its accounts to another bank.
He called on the people of Aniocha North to vote enmas for LP candidates in order to change the development process in the council area for the betterment the of the citizens.
