The head of the Association of Urhobo Mayoral Family Crown (AUMFC), Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Mayor Akpodoro, has congratulated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, on his confirmation as Chief of Army Staff by the Tajudeen Abbas-led House of Representatives on Thursday.
The Mayor’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued in Owerri, the Imo state capital over the weekend as he assured that the newly confirmed Army Chief has the wherewithal to overrun insurgents in the North East, bandits in the North West and violent crimes in other parts of the country including commercial hostage taking in the country.
Akpodoro noted that Lt. General Oluyede’s gallantry collaboration with the Tantita Security Services Nig LTD, in the western axis of the Nigerian waters will end permanently the menace of oil theft in the petroleum sector.
Akpodoro said the welfare of the Nigerian Army should be one of the major thrusts of the new Army Chief noting that the nation’s Army needed robust welfare system that will cater for the needs of officers and men for greater efficiency and high productivity.
The Mayor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his choice of Lt. Gen. Oluyede as the 24th Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff who succeeded the late Army Chief Taoreed Lagbaja who died recently after a meritorious service to the nation.
He said Lt. General Oluyede has daunting tasks of mopping up the vestiges of violent crimes and criminalities in the country.
Recall that Lt. General Oluyede was appointed Acting Chief of Army Staff by President Tinubu.
He brings to the role a wealth of operational experience, particularly in the infantry command and military strategy.
He is recognized for his leadership in both domestic security and international peace operations, further establishing Nigeria’s role in regional stability.
“I call for a strong synergy between the military and the unconventional security apparatus in tackling crimes in the country.
“We, the ex-agitators of Niger Delta extraction, are willing to work collaboratively with the military.
“The COAS should see us as friends in progress as we work together to build a crime free society. The ex-agitators shall work with the army to demolish insecurity in the country.”
