Middle East Tensions Escalate as Iran Launches Drone Strikes on US Military Bases in Bahrain and Jordan

Iran has announced that it carried out drone attacks on United States military facilities in Bahrain and Jordan, marking a significant escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington.

According to a statement released by the Iranian army on Friday, the operation targeted the Isa Air Base in Bahrain using Arash kamikaze drones. Iranian officials claimed the strikes were aimed at fuel storage tanks, equipment warehouses, silos and military barracks used by US forces.

An explosion and warning sirens were reported in Bahrain by an AFP journalist, although authorities had not immediately confirmed whether the incident was directly linked to the reported drone attack.

Iran also said it launched drone strikes against the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, claiming to have targeted aircraft hangars, aviation maintenance facilities and military barracks. However, Jordanian authorities had not reported any attacks or damage at the time of publication.

Tehran has repeatedly warned that any military facility in the Middle East used by the United States to launch operations against Iran would be considered a legitimate target for retaliation. The latest claims follow renewed military exchanges between the two countries, raising concerns that the conflict could spread beyond their borders.

Security analysts say the reported attacks could increase instability across the Gulf region, where several countries host American military bases. The developments are also being closely monitored by governments, energy markets and international organisations amid fears of wider regional repercussions

Neither the United States nor Bahrain had immediately provided an official assessment of the reported strikes, while the situation in Jordan remained unclear.
The latest escalation underscores the fragile security environment in the Middle East, with global leaders expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to prevent further military confrontation.
