The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has sent various messages to Nigerians, warning against falling into scam orchestrated by some fraudulent and mischievous Nigerians.
Following the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria on February 27, 2020, the NCDC has become a household name in Nigeria. Prior to the outbreak, the disease control agency was unknown to many Nigerians.
But with the outbreak of the virus and being the centre of the control in the country, the agency has become very prominent in the affairs of Nigerians, especially within the last six months, beginning from March 2020.
It has been sending regular messages to Nigerians, giving advice and warnings on how they should handle the outbreak of the virus, signs of the coronavirus and how to respond in case of discovery, either in person, family or organisation.
The recent messages coming from the agency have to do with alert on recruitment scam and financial beneficiary of COVID-19 funds. One of such messages read: “BEWARE OF SCAM: Disregard any message that you are a beneficiary of COVID-19 funds or your account has been credited by NCDC. Delete immediately and do not share.”
Another one reads: “NOTICE: Beware of fraud! NCDC will never request for payment in return for employment and NCDC is not conducting any recruitment activities at this time.”
