The Delta North People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate, and the chancellor of Sports University, Idumuje Ugboko, Delta state, Prince Ned Nwoko, has again received due recognition for his philanthropic works in the society, as ASDEV 81 club, honoured him with an award of excellence in philanthropy, on Monday, 26 December, 2022.
According to Barr. Mark-Anthony Ndukaeze, the awards committee chairman, the award is in recognition of Nwoko’s great achievements in malaria eradication advocacy, scholarship programme, establishment of the first Sports University in Delta state, tourism development, and above all, his efforts towards the Paris club loans refund, which has evidently helped to see Nigeria out of recession.
“We are indeed proud that an Anioma son is putting Delta state on the global map”, Ndukaeze added.
In his response, Nwoko expressed gratitude. He said that he was delighted when he received the invitation to the occasion, because, he fully identifies with the aims and objectives of ASDEV 81 club.
“It is indeed commendable for a group of prominent sons and daughters of Asaba to come together to seek ways and means of adding value to Asaba, which is already growing at a tremendous pace in terms of development. ” Nwoko said.
He, however, added that he expects more from the club, knowing that they have the foresight and strength to focus on the needs of the people.
The leading Delta North senatorial candidate, who also chaired the occasion, pledged to put 20 percent of his constituency project budget at the disposal of the club, if he wins the senatorial seat. He also donated the sum of N20million to club projects.
Nwoko graced the event alongside his entourage, led by Dr. Michael Nwoko, aka, “The Political Oshobe”.
