Prince Ned Nwoko, the Delta North People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate, on Tuesday, 15 November, 2022, visited the Dein of Agbor’s palace with his campaign train.

The visit, which according to Nwoko, was supposed to be a very brief courtesy call, turned out to be a huge ceremonious visit as the palace chiefs were all dressed in their full regalia, and the dazzling Ika women, in their outing uniform, waiting to receive the senatorial candidate and his entourage.

Nwoko expressed his surprise at the massive turn out of event, and also, heartily thanked the people for their warm reception.

“To everyone here, I am grateful for your time. When I discussed this visit with my wife, Regina, I thought it was going to be a brief 10 minutes, private meeting. But, seeing this crowd of happy faces, I am very overwhelmed. And also, in this crowd is the royal mother, Dein’s mother. I am truly happy and grateful for your presence,” he said.

Briefing the majestic monarch, Dein Benjamin Keagborekuzi Ikenchuku Gbenoba, on political matters, Nwoko said, “Dein, this is campaign time and PDP has been on the move, putting things in order to secure Delta state and also Nigeria. One of your son’s, the Governor of the state, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, is about to become the vice president of Nigeria, that is, number two man in the country.

“When Atiku chose him as his running mate, he confidently remarked that he chose Okowa because he knows his character, and because he wants somebody who can step into his shoes if anything happens to him. Atiku said that publicly.

“This is great Anioma South, and Okowa is from this great Anioma South, and you’re the great Anioma king and also, a great Nigerian king. We are here today to ask for your blessings, for all the PDP candidates contesting for various offices.”

The senatorial candidate added, “This is not going to be business like before, you know me and you know what I stand for. When elected, we will be answerable to the people. If we all make it to the various offices we are contesting for, and fail to carry out the plans we agreed on, then hold me responsible.”

The Dein stated that as a monarch, he is expected to be non-partisan. He however, noted that Ned Nwoko is someone who likes to serve and it will be his pleasure to have him in the senate.

In the monarch’s words, “Ned likes to serve, I see it in him. This is someone who is not in politics for any other reason but to give his personal time and energy to push people forward. Thanks for always pushing others forward. You would have as well, decided to tour the world with your beautiful wife and children, but you decided to come and serve the people. At this point in time, Nigerians do not only need people like you, we deserve people like you.”

“Also, I must point out another great aspect of you. You treat your family with great respect, you certainly sample how to be a real father. Not many Nigerian men with your kind of busy schedule, will be happy to be running around and playing with the children. Thanks for setting a good example of how to treat family, and it will be a very great pleasure for me to have you as a senator,” the Dein said.
