Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to remain resilient and united amid the economic challenges facing the country, expressing optimism that current sacrifices and reforms will eventually produce a stronger Nigeria.
Dafinone made the call in a statement marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in which he felicitated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the people of Delta Central and Nigerians across the country.
The senator acknowledged the hardship being experienced by many Nigerians as a result of the ongoing economic reforms, describing the period as difficult but urging citizens not to lose hope.
He said the emerging results of the Tinubu administration’s reforms should strengthen Nigerians’ resolve to persevere as efforts continue to restore economic stability, expand opportunities and improve living conditions.
Dafinone also urged Nigerians to continue praying for President Tinubu and supporting the policies of his administration as the country navigates what he described as a period of national economic adjustment.
Quoting the Bible, he said, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning,” stressing the need for resilience and hope despite the current difficulties.
The Delta Central senator further called on residents of Delta Central and the wider Delta State to support and pray for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that cooperation between the Federal Government and the state government would be important to advancing development, attracting investment and creating more opportunities for residents.
He expressed optimism that sustained unity and perseverance would help build a Nigeria where peace prevails and citizens have greater opportunities to pursue their aspirations.
“Together, we can build a new Nigeria where peace prevails and every citizen has the opportunity to pursue and achieve their dreams,” Dafinone said.
He urged Nigerians to remain united through the current difficult period, expressing confidence that “a brighter chapter lies ahead.”
Dafinone wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day and prayed for the continued progress and prosperity of Delta Central, Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
