As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary, Senator Ede Dafinone of Delta Central Senatorial District has urged citizens to embrace steadfast hope and remain committed to the ideals of unity, justice, and shared prosperity.
In a goodwill message to the people of Delta Central, the Niger Delta, and Nigerians at large, Senator Dafinone described the October 1 milestone as both a celebration of sovereignty and a moment for sober reflection on the nation’s journey since independence in 1960.
“This milestone is not just a celebration of our sovereignty, but a solemn reflection on our collective journey — our struggles, our triumphs, and the enduring spirit that binds us as one people,” he said.
Acknowledging the economic difficulties currently facing Nigerians, Senator Dafinone noted that inflation, global uncertainties, and the impact of ongoing reforms have weighed heavily on households and businesses. He, however, urged Nigerians not to lose sight of the bigger picture, stressing that meaningful change often requires sacrifice.
“Let us not be disheartened by temporary hardship,” he advised. “As we celebrate our independence, let us rekindle our hope and strengthen our resolve to build a Nigeria that works for all.”
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of Delta Central in the Senate, assuring his constituents that their voices would continue to be heard at the national level.
He concluded with a call to patriotism:
“May this Independence Day renew in us a deeper love for our nation and a greater determination to see her succeed. God bless Delta Central! God bless Delta State!! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!”
