The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Nigeria has announced that registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will end in 17 days on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with no possibility of extension under any circumstances.
In an official weekly bulletin, the board expressed concern about the low turnout of applicants at accredited registration centres nationwide, despite the registration period being well underway.
JAMB reiterated that habitual delays in signing up followed by calls from candidates for deadline extensions will not be entertained this year.
JAMB officials explained that requests for extensions are often linked to efforts by some individuals to encourage late‑stage registrations that could facilitate examination malpractice.
To safeguard the integrity of the process and protect genuine candidates, the board has stressed that the deadline is final.
According to the board, registration officially began on Monday, January 26, 2026, and is scheduled to last five weeks.
JAMB noted that around one million candidates have already shown interest in taking the UTME, and many others have purchased their e‑PINs and are expected to complete registration soon.
