The National Youth Service Corps, Bayelsa State on Wednesday took its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme to Sagbama Town in Sagbama Local Government Area.
The programme which witnessed a large turn out of aged men and women, young people and children was held at the Mile 3 Town Hall.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity who flagged-off the exercise, stated that the free health initiative was part of the scheme’s effort to leave positive impact on its host communities.
The Coordinator who was represented by the Assistant Director, Corps Welfare and Health Services (CWHS), Mr Edison Ohuoha disclosed that scheme has mobilised a competent team of doctors, nurses, medical laboratory scientists and other professionals to attend to the health needs of the people in the area and called on them to take advantage it.
A beneficiary, Madam Lucy Ebi thanked the NYSC for bringing the free health care programme to their door steps and prayed for God to sustain the scheme.
