Wife of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Monday March 8, 2021 passed a message to the 17 women local government vice chairmen who were sworn in by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Monday.

This is the first time I’m the history of Delta state that women in such number are elected as vice chairmen in the state since the  of Delta state.
In a post on Facebook, the governor’s wife said the 17 women should show that women make great leaders when given opportunity to participate in governance.

As we commemorate #IWD2021, it was a great pleasure to join my darling husband, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at the inauguration of the new LGA Chairs, where 17 women were sworn-in as LGA Vice-Chairmen.
This significant feat, which is in-line with my husband’s #StrongerDelta agenda has once again demonstrated his commitment to empowering women and girls across our state.
As they begin their new roles, I wish the new LGA Council Members all the best, and I am optimistic that the 17 new Vice-Chairwomen will show what we have always known: that women make great leaders when given the opportunity to participate in governance and in the political process.
